Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharov, said that Intra-Afghan meeting has been delayed due to the wrong positions of the national unity government against this process. The Russian Foreign Ministry official said: “delay in the second Intra-Afghan meeting between the Taliban and other sides of Afghanistan is regrettable because the meeting was the only structure that could be agreed upon by all parties involved in the peace process under the observation of Afghan government and the Taliban.”
According to Maria Zakharov, one of the main reasons for delaying the second Intra-Afghan meeting between the Taliban and other sides but this process was interrupted during the introduction of people who were not a part of this framework, and their names were not listed before. A spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said: “The reason for the collapse of the Doha summit was the incorrect position of the current leadership of the Afghan government to send the delegation which was introduced to Qatari Government, which led to the opposition of participants in the meeting, which cause to the main subject to the main protesters, I mean the Taliban.”
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry adds: “The imposition of conditions for an Intra-Afghan meeting and the statements of the Afghan government regarding preparations for constructive talks below the name of Afghanistan’s future is not in accordance to the nature of this program. We hope that the work of the Afghan government and all citizens of this country will be able to seek solutions to their problems and bring about talks that can shape the country’s fate. ”
These statements came as the National Unity Government held a meeting under the name of “Peace Consultative Loya Jirga” to determine the roadmap for peace talks with the Taliban. At least 3,200 citizens participated in the meeting as representatives of the Afghan people to clarify the framework for the government in the Taliban’s peace talks.
