The Russian embassy in Kabul: Moscow wants the elimination of UN restrictions on Taliban
The Russian embassy in Kabul has published a newsletter stated that Moscow has called for the removal of United Nations Security Council sanctions against Taliban groups that are in talks with the United States. The Russian embassy has also written in this newsletter that additional facilities should be provided to the Taliban’s negotiating delegation and their travel restrictions must be eliminated as soon as possible.
It is also said that during a visit by the Special Representative of the Russian President Zamir Kabulov and the US Special Envoy for Afghanistan’s Peace, Zalmay Khalilzad, both sides have agreed to work to lift the sanctions. In addition, Moscow and Washington have agreed to simplify the working process to facilitate peace talks between the Taliban and the United States. The fifth round of talks with the Taliban is scheduled to resume after two days of delay in tomorrow March 8 in Doha of Qatar.
