Salang maintenance authorities have said that the Salang highway has been shut down for traffic for the seventh this winter. Abdul Baser Habibi, the head of maintenance department of Salang, said that the sights in northern and southern Salang have reached to zero, and the road was close to all passenger and transport vehicles close to 4 PM Friday 1 March after the snowfall in this highway increased. Therefore, no car has the right to travel on this route.

Salang is considered the largest highway in Afghanistan, connecting 9 provinces to the capital. Although the highway in the past winter had been blocked by the snowfall a few times, this winter the highway was blocked at least seven times to traffic.
