Some political parties have announced that a number of Afghan political figures will soon meet with Taliban officials in Qatar for the second time, according to the sources probably Afghan former President Hamid Karzai would be also a part of this delegation of political parties which would participate in the upcoming meeting with Taliban. It is also said that during the talks between Afghan political figures and Taliban leadership, the two sides are expected to discuss the formation of an interim government in the country. On the other hand, the National Unity Government has also announced its readiness to hold a face to face meeting with the Taliban.
But the spokesman for the Taliban in a conversation with the Pasbanan News agency has also stated that the political leadership of the group in Qatar are not willing to talk directly with the national unity government. Zabihullah Mujahid has also stated that the Taliban have do not recognize any government and consider the national unity government as the US puppet. Meanwhile, the US State Department today announced that Zalmai Khalilzad has met with representatives of Russia, China and the European Union in Washington and discussed the Afghan peace process. This is while the Special Envoy of Russia for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, said that the return of the Taliban to power is far from the imagination.
