According to reports, Sherzad Safi, a former parliamentary candidate, was shot by unknown gunmen today around 12 pm. Local sources, confirming the news, has said that the incident occurred today in the centre of Laghman. Mr Safi is said to have been appointed to join the Loya Jirga Peace Consultative Meeting. Sherzad Safi was a former candidate for the parliamentary elections and was also one of the youth activists in Laghman. It is still not clear who was involved in the murder of this young person, but some sources believe that the Taliban may have some connections to prevent citizens from coming to the Loya Jirga and this incident would be possibly orchestrated by them to prevent the people from joining the Peace Consultative Jirga.
