According to a newsletter released by Afghan presidential palace, president Ghani has appointed “Asadullah Khalid” the ex-chief of national directorate of Security as defense minister and Amrullah Saleh ex-NDS chief as interior minister by issuing two decrees.

Shah Hussain Mortazawi, deputy spokesman of the presidential palace has announced that according to the decree of the president, these two security figures are introduced to parliament for appointing as ministers of the security institutions. This selection has come in a time that earlier appointing of Tariq Shah Bahrami as defense minister and Wais Ahmad Barmak as interior minister was criticized by citizens and analytics. Meanwhile, these two security figures are introduced in a time that currently Taliban insurgents has accelerated their operations against Afghan security and defense forces.
