According to a newsletter released by Afghanistan Foreign Affairs Ministry: the ministry has inaugurated the Committee on Prohibition of Harassment Against Women And Children, this morning. In this summit deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Mr. Idrees Zaman has highlighted that Afghanistan has the zero-tolerance policy against harassment.

He regarded the government’s gains in the area of women’s rights and women’s participation in the social and political spheres as being among the key achievements.  He assured the participants of the government’s special attention to consolidating, sustaining and manifesting those gains throughout the peace process and other important processes.

The Committee on Prohibition of Harassment Against Women And Children was established under Article 7 of the Law on Prohibition of Harassment Against Women And Children.

The Committee comprises 3 members, which includes Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Director General of Human Rights and Women’s International Affairs; and Director General of Human Resource Department, as well as the Head of the Afghan Women Diplomat Association (AWDA) as an observer.
