Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban group spokesman, wrote in a newsletter that the Special Envoy for Afghanistan’s Peace Zalmai Khalilzad, met Mullah Baradar, the political deputy of the Taliban group, in their political office in Qatar. According to Zabihullah Mujahid, Mullah Baradar suggested to Mr. Khalilzad that the first step should be to discussion of foreign troop’s withdrawal from Afghanistan and to provide the Taliban with guarantees that Afghanistan will not be used against others, as these two main issues should be discussed in this meeting and these issues are the key solution to the next issues in the peace talks.

Meanwhile, the Taliban spokesman said that the two sides decided to begin talks between the United States and the Taliban today, and the final decision will be taken at the same time as the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country would be also discussed in this meeting. It is said that the Russian State Department has now strongly condemned the suspension of the second Intra-Afghan meeting in Qatar.
