NATO secretary general told media that they are willing to empower Afghan security and defense forces and this organization will provide more support to Afghanistan. Jens Stoltenberg also added Taliban must understand that there are no further achievements by using military solution. He announced in this conference: “the reason that NATO is supporting Afghan Army and security forces is to end the crisis by the political settlement. We are providing these forces financial and political support for pressurizing Taliban that they should understand that there is no military solution for Afghan crisis.”

Jens Stoltenberg believes that Taliban are facing a failure because they were unable to achieve their military goals. He added: “we are working for sustainability and empowering of Afghanistan and it means to us, for this reason once again we concentrate on our support for ANDSF after 2020. We welcome president Ghani’s peace proposal and also the last Ulama meeting which banned all terrorist acts and even suicide attack was called illegal in the meeting.”

With all above NATO secretary general believes that launching elections in the current situation of Afghanistan is a need. He added: “NATO has to support Afghanistan and we will continue to do it, but we want from Afghan government that they must fight against corruption and also launch elections. This election process is too important and this process will help Afghanistan and its institutions to be empowered.”
