The snow and heavy rains in the country have caused at least 20 people to die. The UN Office for Harmonization and Assistance in Afghanistan says that most of the dead are children.

Hundreds of residential homes have been damaged in Herat Province, and members of these families have been transferred to places such as mosques, schools and government buildings, according to the anti-incident directorate.

The UN Office for the Coordination of the United Nations (UNHCR) also says that 500 people have faced many problems and that assistance and cooperation are needed to save them.

The deputy governor of Kandahar said the recent floods in the province have been severe and has been unprecedented since seven years ago.
