Russia and Uzbekistan have agreed to work together to prevent the smuggling of drugs from Afghanistan to Central Asia. “We have come to an agreement with officials from Uzbekistan to prevent the trafficking of drugs and the threat of terrorist attacks from Afghanistan to Central Asia and the spread of unrest in the region,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The Russian Foreign Minister also stated, that after these talks were held with Uzbek officials in Tashkent, both sides discussed the situation in regards to drug trafficking and terrorist threats from Afghanistan to the region. While the two sides spoke about getting the necessary measures to help resolve the Afghan crisis through multilateral mechanisms until Afghanistan became a stable country.
