US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells has tweeted on the page. He thanked the IEC for its hard work and for announcing the preliminary results of the presidential election.
The US Department of State has encouraged the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission of Afghanistan to deal transparently and professionally with the complaints of presidential candidates.
While the majority of Afghans were not able to vote, the final winner, whoever it was, had to take timely and tangible steps to represent Afghanistan well in the Afghan leadership and negotiating team, Ms. Wales wrote.
Meanwhile, the Independent Election Commission yesterday (Sunday, June 6) announced the preliminary results, with a total of 1 million and 2 votes.
The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission also asked the candidates to submit their complaints to the IEC within three days, along with legal documents.
