United Nations Assistance Mission for Afghanistan (UNAMA) today released its annual report on civilian casualties in Afghanistan. According to the report, at least 3,000 Afghan citizens died last year and 7,000 others got wounded during the war in this country. The  Security Council now says that most of the civilian casualties are because terroNationalrist groups are using civilians as their shield. “The Taliban and other terrorist groups that kill Afghan people are a major contributor to the increase in civilian casualties, as terrorists are using, people, women, children, and their homes,” said Tariq Aryan, spokesman for the National Security Council. “Even these groups using mosque-enclosed holy places as military shields and war shields, which have a huge impact on the increase of civilian casualties.”

In addition, Afghan security forces are responsible for an increase of 14% in civilian casualties in the country. Mr. Aryan now says that the NSC is trying to change the warfare tactics in the country to prevent civilian casualties. “We are assuring citizens of Afghanistan that we are working to change the warfare tactics, which helps us to identify and suppress enemies as well as prevent civilian casualties,” he added. “Also our citizens must have this assurance that, in any event, that claims to be a civilian casualty, we will observe it in accordance with our existing procedures.”

The Afghan government is talking about a change in their warfare tactics that the Taliban are currently using civilians as their shield to change their waging ways to target the security forces.
