Kai Aydi, a former UN envoy to Afghanistan, said in an article written by him that Qatari talks between the United States and the Taliban needs for the presence of an international representative and this presence are vital. The former United Nations envoy to Afghanistan has said: “In fact, so far, Afghan-led peace talks have not been started yet, and only within the course of nine months only talks between the United States and the Taliban have been ongoing.”

Mr. Aydi has expressed the following in connection with the start of the second round of Intra-Afghan Peace Talks: “The Afghan government and politicians have not succeeded in creating a real team to start Intra-Afghan peace talks between the partners, so I propose to the government. For the end of the conflict, president Ghani should not insist on sending a government delegation. Because it would be awful to ask the Taliban to recognize a government that the group has been fighting for the past 18 years against it and is still very involved in the war with it.”

The United Nations former diplomat for Afghanistan emphasized on the contribution of the international representative in the Afghan peace talks which are taking place in Qatar that, the sixth round of talks between the United States and the Taliban ended in Qatar a few days ago. Both sides of the Taliban and the United States, after the end of this round talks, announced peace negotiations that they had gained some success but it is little and insignificant.
