Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai in an interview with the media says that achieving peace in Afghanistan is more important than holding a presidential election. Hamid Karzai also said: “Peace in Afghanistan is a top priority and we need to achieve this before the next presidential election in the country. Future efforts to achieve peace should be based on the persuasion of Intra-Afghan dialogues between all sides in the country and the peace process must remain transparent to all, including all actors in the region.”

These statements come as the EU and the United States say the future of Afghanistan is at the hands of its citizens, and they themselves have to decide whether they will return to their bitter future or that they will have a brighter future for themselves and their future generations.
