Herat police warning to the election disrupters in the province
Kabul-Afghanistan (PMG):
Herat Police have argued that no individual or group would be allowed to close the Independent Election Commission’s provincial office. Herat Police Chief Aminullah Amarkhail said this issue while visiting the facilities of Herat provincial office of IEC: “Currently, additional troops are in the area to secure the Independent Election Commission (IEC) office, and no one is allowed to close the gates of this institution.
While local Herat media reports announced the closure of the agency, police say these reports are baseless and propaganda. Herat Police Headquarters newsletter states that the election process in Herat is not facing a serious challenge, and the gates of the commission are open to its employees. Indeed, several provinces have witnessed the closure of the provincial election gates.
