Zalmay Khalilzad, the US special envoy for the Afghan peace process, tweeted that he had made great progress in peace talks with the US Taliban. Mr. Khalilzad has wrote: “We have made great progress in dialogue with the Taliban in Doha capital of Qatar in the past few days, it has focused on completing an agreement with the Taliban. “The US agreement with the Taliban as a result of the Doha talks will provide an exit dependent on the conditions in Afghanistan.”

Mr. Khalilzad also insists he is heading to India from Doha for talks with Indian officials on establishing an international consensus on the Afghan peace process. “The US negotiating team is in Doha, and will continue technical talks with the Taliban negotiating team on four parts of the agreement, namely troop withdrawal, ceasefire, Taliban safeguards and Talks between Afghans, and we are working until we reach to an Agreement.” Khalilzad has tweeted.”

Meanwhile, Jens Stoltenberg NATO secretary General has once again expressed optimism about US-Taliban peace talks. NATO’s Secretary General has said that the Afghan peace deal has come closer than ever. According to NATO SG there is now a “real opportunity” for peace in Afghanistan after US-Taliban talks in Qatar.
