Optimism for reaching an agreement with the Taliban in the Loya Jirga of the Peace Consultation

Mohammad Umar Dawoudzai, head of the Secretariat of the High Peace Council and the representative of the President for Regional Affairs for Peace Consultation (Monday 25 Feb), attended the media meeting. He says that the Loya Jirga will have consultative consultations in order to reach a national consensus and consolidate lasting peace in the country, and will not pursue any other goals.
Mr. Dawoudzai stressed from the beginning of the meeting that the jirga will begin on March 26 and will continue until the 29th of this month. He emphasizes that there will be close to two thousand elite people from all over Afghanistan, including 1,100 Ten of the provinces and 900 others will be from Kabul and national institutions such as the media, civil society, the union of lawyers, universities and the presence.
Mr Dawoudzai added that this time the Loya Jirga organizers will be a non-governmental commission, with at least 30% of the women’s participation in the Loya Jirga, he also stressed that the presence of women could be more than that. In addition, Mr. Daoudzi emphasizes the revival of the jirga, adding that the presence of young people in this meeting will be more colorful than the 5 rounds of the Loya Jirga.
The head of the Secretariat of the High Peace Council emphasizes that the international and regional status of the Afghan peace has changed from time to time, and this time the High Peace Council hopes to achieve good results from the Loya Jirga Peace Consultative Meeting. Mr. Dawoudzai stresses that representatives of the Taliban may also participate in the Peace Consultative Jirga.
