Unexpected visit of US Secretary of Defense to Afghanistan while reaching to 17th year of war
Kabul- Afghanistan (PMG):
US Secretary of Defense, James Mattis made an unexpected visit to Afghanistan today. In the meantime the mentioned visit happens while US is making headway to reach its 17th year of combat against terrorist in Afghanistan. Mr. Mattis will also meet General Scott Miller the new commander of resolute support and US Forces in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo appointed Zalmay Khalilzad as the State department’s special envoy to Afghanistan on Tuesday. According to a joint statement of Pompeo, Mattis and their Indian counterparts, reaffirmed their shared commitment to a untied, sovereign, democratic, inclusive, stable, prosperous and peaceful Afghanistan.
